More Protection of the Environment - Fewer Emissions With Voith Turbo Innovations |
 |
| With its Voith Powerpacks Voith Turbo clearly demonstrates its innovative spirit. These drive systems are not only available in a wide range of power classes, they can also be extended by ECO components. These ECO components can be used as single units or, when combined, result in a number of hybrid concepts. |

| Voith ECO components help to save fuel, reduce noise and decrease harmful emissions. Specifically targeted design and application optimizations implemented by the engineering tool Voith EcoConsult allow to analyze individual operating conditions for a wide range of vehicle categories and service profiles, and make it possible to establish the most economical utilization and/or combination. ECO components from Voith Turbo set new standards for hybrid technologies in rail vehicles, because they increase the ecological advantages of rail vehicles and underline their significance as convincing, sustainable transport carriers. | |

- The Voith MicroBrid represents a systems-integrated start-stop function for diesel engines.
- The Voith HydroBrid - a hybrid system for rail vehicles - combines a start-stop function for the diesel engine with a system for utilizing braking energy. A special version of this function is the hydrostatic recuperation of energy. Here, braking energy is either used directly for driving hydrostatic auxiliary systems, or fully or partly directed to high-pressure containers. Depending on the design, hydrostatic energy stored in this way can be used either for driving auxiliary units, for additional acceleration during starting (boosting) or for purely hydrostatic starting - without diesel engine. But braking energy can also be converted into electric energy. For this electric recuperation, a generator is moved during the braking process, which immediately supplies the vehicle with electric energy and/or charges electric storage systems.
- With the integrated SteamTrac or SteamDrive system, lost heat from the engine is converted into mechanical and/or electrical energy.
- VTDCeco is the name of the intelligent electronic control system from Voith, which - apart from assuming full control of the drive system - also includes extended functions for an optimized energy and recuperation management.
